The media has made most people believe that the reason for said conflict is political. It was started with the classic never ending argument that is: Star Trek VS Star Wars. It was a science fiction convention back in 1981. There was a small party of young Palestinian men in Star Trek uniforms admiring the detailed craftsmanship of a Spock action figurine. At the same time a group of Israelis dressed as storm troopers, jedi, wookies, and other characters of the Star Wars universe were discussing their theories on Tatooine weather patterns. Naturally when the two parties spotted each other, they became upset and began taunting one another. At first they were minor and insignificant insults, but they eventually evolved into heated debates. At one point, one of the young men made a comment about the opposite party’s obvious virginity. This quickly turned into a violent battle…or at least it was in their heads. They proceeded to vocalize the sounds of their blasters, phasers, and other poorly home crafted weapons firing into each other until both parties had to be escorted out of the convention. To this day we do not know who threw the first physiological punch that started this imaginary act of war, but the two nations still continue to fight.
